The Clippers Have Built the NBA’s Best Shooting Team

The best shooting team in the NBA next season will be the Los Angeles Clippers.

Clippers’ offseason moves have so far consisted of bringing in tall guards and wings that can all snipe. They started out by using the fifth pick in the 2026 NBA draft to select the best shooter in the class, Keaton Wagler. Wagler shot 40% from deep in college and, standing at 6’6” as a point guard, will have no problem in getting shots up over defenders at the NBA level.

The team then went on to trade Kawhi Leonard in what is still an unofficial trade pending investigation. Kawhi’s player replacement is expected to be all-star Brandon Ingram who is a 6’8” small forward that shot 38% from deep last season.

They also acquired Gradey Dick in the expected trade. Despite shooting only 34% from deep so far in his NBA career, he is a 6’8” shooting guard that shot 40% from deep in college. This is the type of skillset that landed Dick as a highly touted prospect who ended up being drafted in the lottery in the 2023 NBA draft. Dick being tall for his position also gives him potential to revive his career to be a productive player in this league, and you best believe shot-making will be his key to that and bringing those percentages up should be step one.

The Clippers then went on to sign Rui Hachimura in free agency. Hachimura is a 6’8” power forward who shot 44% from deep last season, which ranked amongst the top of the league.

This doesn’t even mention the players that are already on the roster. In 19 games as a Clipper last season, Darius Garland averaged 44% from deep in what looked like pre-leap Steph Curry level basketball.

Another tall sniper that was drafted by the Clippers was Kobe Sanders from the 2025 NBA draft. Sanders is a 6’9” shooting guard that was drafted 50th overall and shot 41% from deep last season. The only rookies that shot 40% on threes on 160+ attempts were Kon Knueppel and Kobe Sanders.

The Clippers have shooting all over their roster. Even guys that may not be considered notable shooters such Kris Dunn, Derrick Jones Jr, they each shot 37% and 36%, respectively.

The Clippers also have shooting at the center position. Brook Lopez is one of the most notable shooting centers in the NBA. Last season, he shot 36% from deep. Even Yanic Konan-Niederhauser has shown flashes of stretching from deep. He was showing confidence in shooting threes with beautiful shooting mechanics in both regular season games and the rising stars game.

The team also drafted Baba Miller to replace Nicolas Batum as the backup power forward. Prior to his first summer league game, Miller had already signed a 4-year contract with the Clippers, showing the team’s belief in him. Despite being a low volume and inefficient shooter in college, Miller stunned in the summer league by shooting 50% from deep on eight total attempts. His willingness to stretch the floor and knock down threes not only through the flow of the offense but as a shot clock bailout was very impressive to see.

I haven’t even mentioned other players that the Clippers may acquire this offseason such as Peyton Watson, who shot 41% from deep this past season, and Bennedict Mathurin, who has shot 34% from deep throughout his NBA career.

The Clippers may not be projected to win many games, but due to their ability to be the best shooting team on the floor in every game this season, they may surprise some folks and shoot themselves into many more wins than expected.
